Lawyer.

The practice of law is a tool, not a lifestyle. This philosophy allows me to focus my attention on providing my clients with clear, diligent and dedicated legal services. My areas of practice include:

  • Aboriginal Law
  • Environmental/ RegulatoryLaw
  • Human Rights and Civil Liberties
  • Intellectual Property Law
  • General Civil Litigation
  • Residential School Claims

My practice includes serving the following provinces and territories:

  • British Columbia
  • Yukon Territory
  • Alberta (visiting lawyer status)

I also understand the challenges that prevent people and communities from accessing legal representation.  To counter this, my practice is structured to have the flexibility and creativity to provide greater access to justice for people. Please see "Lawyer by Donation program" for more information on this.

NOTE: I am currently a non-practicing lawyer as I am engaged in graduate studies.  As such, I cannot provide legal services until I am practicing again. Stay tuned!

Mediator.

It is important to understand that the practice of law is only one tool in the shed when attempting to resolve conflicts. Often it is important to set aside the notion of 'winning' and 'losing' and remember that  non-legal solutions are often the most beneficial, both financially and holistically.   It is often the quickest, not to mention cleanest, road to reconciliation.

My legal services include mediation, either in representing a party or independently, where it is appropriate.

Community consultant.

A beautiful life includes the right balance outside the legal arena. Community involvement and consultation is an important part of my balancing act, and I am happy to offer consultative services in the areas of:

  • Youth Program Development
  • Community Leadership Development
  • Strategies in Land Management and Protection
  • Strategies in Traditional Land Use
  • Organizational Development, including Not-for-Profit and Incorporated Organizations.
  • Strategies in the Repatriation of Indigenous Artifacts

My past experiences include personally valuable work in our First Nation and Metis communities, and hope to continue to learn from and share with these communities.
